Non-revenue water is not fixed by intuition. It is divided into districts and measured.

Drinking Water Networks & Leak Detection

Dividing a network into district metered areas with live flow and pressure, so losses are located rather than merely totalled.

The problem

Loss rates in many local networks exceed 30%. The figure is known at city level and unknown at street level - and nothing can be repaired that cannot be located.

How we solve it

We split the network into district metered areas of no more than 2,000 connections each, with a flow meter and a pressure sensor at every district inlet.

Minimum night flow is the indicator: between 02:00 and 04:00 nobody is supposed to be using anything much. Whatever passes the meter in that hour is leakage - measured, not estimated.

What it delivers

A repair priority list ordered by loss volume per district, instead of a random search campaign along the whole network.

What it includes

  • District metered areas

The network split into units whose inflow and outflow can be measured accurately.

  • Minimum night flow

What passes between 02:00 and 04:00 - the standard method for estimating leakage.

  • Live pressure

Pressure is monitored because excess pressure is a leading cause of repeat bursts.

What you receive

  • DMA design

The zoning map, isolation points and meters required.

  • Monthly loss report

Loss in cubic metres per district, ranked by priority.
