Meters & Measurement
OCT-FM-100 Ultrasonic Flow Meter
A meter with no moving parts, measuring flow in 2 to 12 inch pipes to ±2%, running five years on a battery.
Mechanical meters wear. In irrigation water carrying silt and sand an impeller loses accuracy within two seasons and starts under-reading - the worse direction to drift in, because it shows a saving that is not there.
This meter measures the transit time of an ultrasonic wave between two transducers clamped to the pipe wall. Nothing sits in the water path, so there is nothing to abrade, nothing to clog, and no pressure drop.
It logs internally every 15 minutes and holds 90 days, so a loss of connectivity is not a loss of data - which is a situation that genuinely occurs on remote land.
