Sales Engineer - Agriculture

Technical selling of irrigation and energy systems to farms and agribusiness: visiting the site, building the return case on the farm's own figures, and following the modern-irrigation financing file through.

Details

This is technical selling, not marketing. You will visit the farm and ask for recorded diesel consumption, pump running hours and the area of each plot, then build the proposal on those figures. You will not be asked to promise a saving percentage before a baseline is measured - that is company policy, not a personal preference.

You will work with the agricultural engineering team to turn a visit into a preliminary design, a bill of materials and a price, and take technical objections to whoever can answer them rather than deflecting them.

You will carry the financing file: what the Central Bank modern-irrigation initiative requires in documents, and assembling them with the customer and the bank - because most deals in this market stall at that step rather than on price.

You will also carry what the market says back to the product team: which objections repeat, which features nobody understands, and which crop is being asked about whose coefficients are not set yet.

Requirements

  • A degree in agriculture, agricultural engineering or engineering - or equivalent experience selling agricultural inputs.
  • At least two years in technical sales to the agricultural or industrial sector.
  • Able to read a technical proposal, follow a simple payback calculation and defend it in front of a customer.
  • Grounding in Egyptian irrigation and agriculture: the difference between flood and drip, and the main crop calendars.
  • Comfortable in Egyptian colloquial Arabic with a farmer, and in formal Arabic and English in correspondence and proposals.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Egypt roughly half the working time.

What we offer

  • A base salary plus commission on delivered projects, not merely on signed contracts.
  • Social and medical insurance.
  • A vehicle or transport allowance, and a full travel allowance.
  • Technical training on the systems before your first customer visit.
  • Engineering support on every significant visit: you will not be left facing a technical question with no answer.
