Field IoT Technician

Installing, commissioning and maintaining controllers and sensors on farms and sites. The role is field-first: most of the week is spent on site, not at a desk.

You will install field units: the controller, soil-moisture probes at 20 cm and 45 cm, the flow meter on the pump outlet, and the solar panel that powers the unit. Installation is not only mechanical fixing - it includes calibration and recording the first reading on the platform before the site is handed over.

You will work with the LoRaWAN network: siting gateways, testing signal strength across open farmland, and resolving coverage problems on sites separated by long distances or natural obstructions.

Maintenance is a core part of the role: scheduled preventive visits and response to faults raised by the platform. You will document every visit with a short report that joins the site record, because a unit's history is what explains its next failure.

You will also take part in training the customer's operator - the part that decides whether the system keeps running after we leave the site.

Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in electronics, telecoms or electrical engineering - or equivalent practical experience.
  • Able to read a wiring diagram, solder, and make cable terminations clean enough to survive sun and dust.
  • Familiar with low-voltage (12/24 V) circuits and solar charging systems.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel and stay outside Cairo a week at a time.
  • Comfortable using a laptop to configure devices and read connectivity logs.
  • Able to explain how the system works to a farmer in plain language, without jargon.
